岡山・井原/Okayama・ibara
その名を高めたのは明治時代からの「備中小倉」、そして戦後のジーンズ。服地として丈夫さが売り物だった小倉地は、霜降りの学生服、機関士の作業服などに使われ、井原はその主産地でした。この地で盛んだった木綿の機織り、藍染めの技術が戦後の産業である日本のジーンズの基礎となっています。
現在では、旧式シャトル織機に加え革新織機を駆使してヴィンテージデニムだけでなく、革新的な機能を持つ生地まで幅広く生産しています。
The name "Bitchu Ogura" has been around since the Meiji era, and jeans since the end of World War II. The Ogura fabric, which was sold for its durability as a clothing material, was used for marbled school uniforms and work uniforms for engineers, and Ibara was the main production area. The cotton weaving and indigo dyeing techniques that flourished in this area became the basis for the post-war industry of Japanese jeans. Nowadays, in addition to the old shuttle looms, innovative looms are used to produce not only vintage denim, but also a wide range of fabrics with innovative functions.
